However, in particularly heavy-duty applications, this solution may not be sufficient to completely prevent longitudinal shear, especially with extremely sharp or pointy materials.  <\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"2882\" data-end=\"3251\">The introduction of a <em data-start=\"2903\" data-end=\"2922\">metal breaker<\/em> is a particularly effective solution to reinforce the conveyor belt and reduce the risk of longitudinal cuts. The metal breaker is an internal steel reinforcement, consisting of wire mesh or woven wires, which is integrated inside the belt rubber. This layer of metal reinforcement:  <\/p><ul data-start=\"3253\" data-end=\"3859\"><li class=\"\" data-start=\"3253\" data-end=\"3380\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"3255\" data-end=\"3380\"><strong data-start=\"3255\" data-end=\"3290\">Increases the mechanical strength<\/strong> of the belt, preventing rubber failure when impacted by sharp objects.<\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"3381\" data-end=\"3488\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"3383\" data-end=\"3488\"><strong data-start=\"3383\" data-end=\"3427\">It better distributes tensile forces<\/strong>, reducing the risk of tearing and longitudinal shear.<\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"3489\" data-end=\"3659\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"3491\" data-end=\"3659\"><strong data-start=\"3491\" data-end=\"3530\">Prevents shear propagation<\/strong>: In case of surface damage, the metal breaker helps stop the expansion of the shear, maintaining the integrity of the tape.<\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"3660\" data-end=\"3859\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"3662\" data-end=\"3859\"><strong data-start=\"3662\" data-end=\"3693\">Increases operating life<\/strong>: With this extra protection, the belt is able to last longer in harsh working conditions, reducing the need for frequent replacement.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p class=\"\" data-start=\"3861\" data-end=\"4206\">In particular, the metal breaker is very useful in belts working in mining environments, where the presence of sharp rocks and abrasive materials is common. The combination of a high-strength rubber compound and metal reinforcement makes the belt much stronger and more resistant to impact, abrasion, and shear damage. <\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"4228\" data-end=\"4845\">Cut and tear protection is essential to ensure the long life and reliability of conveyor belts, especially in high-stress industrial environments. The use of high-quality cut-resistant compounds, combined with the use of reinforcements such as metal breaker, is an optimal solution to prevent significant damage, reduce maintenance costs, and increase operational safety.
